Brighton 0-1 Man City
Brighton lose at home in the penultimate league match of the season and are relegated. Manchester City, despite this win, also go down, with David Pleat's Luton (with Brian Horton in midfield) surviving after a famous finish at Maine Road.
Brighton 2-1 Sheff Weds

Brighton 2-1 Spurs
Two sendings off and two late goals make for a stormy second half in this rather peculiar victory. Brighton's win follows creditable draws in Division One against Manchester United, Liverpool and Aston Villa. However, the Seagulls are still bottom of the table. Brighton 1-0 Norwich
Jimmy Case's controversially charges through the Norwich defence in the 66th minute to win this untidy game. It is Brighton's first ever appearance in the Quarter Finals of the FA Cup.
Liverpool 1-2 Brighton
A famous shock as Jimmy Case and Jimmy Melia comes back to their old club to hand them their first home Cup defeat since 1974. Case's blockbuster came a minute after Craig Johnston's equaliser.
Brighton 4-0 Man City
A comprehansive thrashing of Manchester City, with goals from Case, Smillie and two from Maine Road old boy Michael Robinson.
Newcastle 0-1 Brighton
Brighton survive two late disallowed goals to overcome sustained pressure from Newcastle. Thank you, referee Trelford Mills!

Brighton 1-1 Watford
Peter Ward equalises in the 85th minute after Michael Robinson has two shots blocked following Grealish's cross. Brighton, with only one win in nine games, desperately wanted a win against high-flying Watford. However, Kenny Jackett had blasted the ball into the roof of the net for the visitors on 79 minutes, before the Seagulls scrambled in this equaliser.
Brighton 3-0 Norwich
A heartwarming victory in front of Match of the Day's cameras. Jimmy Case and Andy Ritchie's goals here give Albion a 2-0 lead before Robinson wraps things up. This stems a run of four consecutive defeats, including the Watford match.
Watford 4-1 Brighton
The First Division new boys Watford outclass Brighton, with John Barnes and Nigel Callaghan having particularly good games. This heavy away defeat follows similar reverses at West Brom (0-5), Nottingham Forest (0-4), Luton (0-5) and Stoke (0-3) in the opening three months of the season.
